AC Installation & Replacement in Vista, CA

New air conditioners and heat pumps for Vista homes, sized with a load calculation and installed in a day by Cali Breeze, the licensed HVAC company based in nearby Fallbrook. Permits, rebates and financing handled. 5.0 stars on Google.

New AC Systems for Vista Homes

Vista is one of the best places in North County to replace an air conditioner because so much of the housing was built in two waves: 1960s and 70s ranch homes around the core and the big Shadowridge and Melrose developments of the 80s and 90s. Systems in both are at or past the age where replacement beats repair. The valley heat means sizing matters: a system that was marginal when it was installed is undersized after a window replacement or attic conversion, so we run a load calculation on every job rather than matching the old nameplate.

How We Install in Vista

Every installation starts with an in-home assessment and a Manual J load calculation, not a copy of the old nameplate. You get good/better/best options with itemized pricing, we pull the permit and schedule the inspection, and most replacements are done in one day: new pad, line set, disconnect, drain with float switch, thermostat, and a full commissioning with the system charged by weight and airflow verified.

AC Replacement Pricing in Vista

Condenser-and-coil replacements in Vista typically run $6,000 to $9,500 installed; a full system with furnace $10,000 to $15,000; a variable-speed heat pump system $13,000 to $20,000; a single-zone ductless mini-split $4,000 to $7,000. Every quote is itemized, and financing through Wisetack is available.

When to Replace Your AC in Vista

  • Age. Past 12–15 years, major parts fail in sequence. A compressor this year usually means a coil next year.
  • R-22 refrigerant. Systems built before 2010 run on R-22, which is no longer produced. Leak repairs on those systems cost a large fraction of a new unit.
  • The $5,000 rule. Age in years times the repair quote. Over $5,000, replace.
  • Efficiency. Replacing a 10 SEER unit with a 16 SEER2 system cuts cooling electricity by roughly 35–40%.
  • Comfort. Rooms that never cool, a system that short-cycles, or noise that keeps you up are sizing and design problems a new installation can fix.

Vista Communities Where We Install

  • Shadowridge – planned 1980s and 90s homes and condos where original builder-grade systems are now 30 years old.
  • Vista Village and downtown – older bungalows and cottages, many with wall furnaces and no ductwork.
  • Buena Vista and Rancho Buena Vista – 1960s and 70s ranch homes with attic ductwork that leaks.
  • Foothill and Vista Grande – hillside lots where the outdoor unit often sits in full afternoon sun.
  • Breeze Hill and Melrose corridor – newer construction and HOA communities.

Vista Installation Questions

One day for most homes. A condenser-and-coil swap takes 4 to 6 hours; a full system with furnace and some duct work takes a full day. We schedule so you have cooling by evening, and the permit inspection follows within a couple of weeks.

Yes. AC and heat pump replacements require a mechanical permit, and California Title 24 requires duct leakage testing on many replacements. Cali Breeze pulls the permit, schedules the inspection and handles the HERS test.

It depends on square footage, insulation, windows, orientation and ductwork, not just the old unit's size. We run a Manual J load calculation on every installation. Oversized systems short-cycle and leave the house humid; undersized ones run all day in August.

For most Vista homes a heat pump is the better long-term choice: it cools exactly like an AC and heats far more efficiently than a gas furnace, and it qualifies for current federal tax credits. We quote both so you can compare installed cost and estimated bills.

Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman and Rheem for ducted systems; Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu and LG for ductless. We recommend based on your home and budget, and we service every brand regardless of who installed it.

I had a great experience with Ricky & Davie @ CaliBreeze. Their customer communications were excellent - sending multiple appointment reminders & opportunities to reschedule, if necessary. On every visit they were on-time. They worked with me to detect an intermittent HVAC condensation overflow leak in the attic, repaired the leak, & subsequently installed a missing secondary safety pan with safety switch to prevent future overflow leaks from reaching the ceiling. Start-to-finish the repair & installation processes were performed in a friendly & professional manner. Well done!

I was very happy with the service I received from Ricky at Cali Breeze Heating & Air Conditioning. He showed up on time, sent text reminders and notifications in advance, and was very professional throughout the entire process. I especially appreciated that he did not make a mountain out of a molehill when there was a malfunction with the system. He quickly identified the issue, explained what was needed, and fixed it promptly. I highly recommend Ricky and Cali Breeze Heating & Air Conditioning for their professionalism, reliability, and excellent service! Sam Yaghmaee, Ed.D.

Seriously cannot recommend Cali Breeze AC & Ricky enough!! We called them last week and they were able to come out SAME DAY to Encinitas, figure out what was going on, get everything we needed ordered and covered under warranty, and had us back up and cooling within 48 hours. They were so easy to work with, communicated with us the whole way through, and were super honest about what we actually needed. No crazy upselling or trying to tack things on — which we really appreciated. They even checked our filters while they were there just to make sure everything else looked good. Just an all-around great experience and a really good local company. It’s hard to find people you actually trust with this stuff, and we’ll 100% be calling them again if we ever need anything. Thank you guys for taking such good care of us!!

Since we moved to the area, we did not know a good AC/heating company. I found Cali Breeze online as a) being near me and b) having all 5-star reviews. They did not disappoint. They came out quickly. Pricing was fair, they were friendly, and Ricky was very thorough. And the follow-up was great also, with lots of pictures from the air handler (up in the attic where I never go) and the AC units outside. The also did not try to upsell me on things I did not need. Excellent experience! [update] we had a leaky gasket that was causing water to drip from attic to our ceiling. Ricky found and fixed the problem very quickly and expertly.
